Instinct

About Fox & Crow

We spent ten years calling this market before we tried to map it.

Instinct grew out of a decade of conversations with managed service providers.

Pick 50 MSPs you know well. Twenty minutes. No pitch deck.

The work came first.

For ten years, Fox & Crow agents ran partner recruitment programs for vendors selling into the MSP channel.

Every call produced operating knowledge: how the provider made money, what it supported, how it was staffed and whether it could support the vendor program being offered.

5,000,000 + human-recorded market observations.

Most company databases are built from information about the company. Our agents were collecting information from the company.

That history became the starting point for Instinct.

Why it became a product.

Vendor after vendor came to us with the same questions before a campaign started.

Which companies are actually MSPs? How large are they? Which technologies do they use? Which are equipped for the program?

We answered those questions manually for one vendor and one market at a time.

Instinct applies the same work across the broader market and keeps it current.

Ian Richardson

Ian founded Doberman Technologies in 2005 and built it into a healthcare-focused managed service provider. After sixteen years as an MSP owner and operator, he exited the company in 2021. He brings that firsthand experience building, operating and selling an MSP to the platforms he and Carrie create together.

What Fox & Crow does now.

Fox & Crow has two products built on the same market data.

  1. Instinct, for vendors. MSP market intelligence for deciding which companies to pursue, how they operate, which technologies they use and what recently changed.
  2. Jackdaw, for MSPs. A competitive market report showing nearby providers and how they compare.

Fox & Crow no longer runs partner recruitment programs.

The lines we hold.

Instinct does not sell private contact data or assess a provider’s security posture.

We do not publish unsupported figures as facts. Company records show the evidence, date and confidence behind the information we provide.

We also tell prospective customers when Instinct is a poor fit for the job they are trying to do.
